The optic vesicle promotes cornea to lens transdifferentiation in larval Xenopus laevis

摘要: The outer cornea and pericorneal epidermis (lentogenic area) of larval Xenopus laevis are the only epidermal regions competent to regenerate a lens under influence retinal inducer. However, head lentogenic area can acquire lens-regenerating competence following transplantation an eye beneath it. In this paper we demonstrate that both covering transplanted capable responding not inducer but also inductive action embryonic optic vesicle by synthesizing crystallins. As is very weak inductor, which promotes crystallin synthesis on biased ectoderm embryo, these results indicate lens-forming in X. corresponds persistence acquisition condition similar ectoderm.
