Epidemiology of women's gymnastics injuries

摘要: Injury information from 98 participants in 2 years of interscholastic women's gymnastics competition four Seattle area high schools was collected by certified athletic trainers. During the 2nd year data collection, study expanded to include an additional 12-team school league, college teams, and 3 private clubs. A wide variety injuries observed, total time loss injury rate 39.8 per 100 participant-seasons. Strains sprains involving back, particularly lumbar region, appeared occur more frequently than most other activities. Ankle were also common, a relatively frequency thigh leg strains overuse problems seen. This suggests that there may well be room for improvement conditioning preventive programs gymnastics.
