摘要: Abstract The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs compensates 13 percent the nation’s military veterans for service‐related disabilities through Disability Compensation (DC) program. In 2001, a legislative change made it easier Vietnam to receive benefits diabetes associated with service. this paper, we investigate policy’s effect on DC enrollment and expenditures as well behavioral response potential beneficiaries. Our findings demonstrate that policy increased by 6 percentage points among an additional 1.7 experienced increase in their benefits, which annual program $2.85 billion 2007. Using individual‐level data from Supplement Current Population Survey, find induced had little average impact labor supply or health status but did reduce spouses.
