摘要: This is a description of the Pd-catalyzed synthesis two poly(p-phenylene) (PPP) derivatives which have butoxymethyl side groups on each, or every alternate, phenylene moiety. For latter, details are given quantitative transformation ether functionalities into bromomethyl pendant groups. Subsequent reaction these bromo with sodium 4-cyanophenolate acetate produced structurally homogeneous PPP's had 4-cyanophenoxymethyl and acetoxymethyl groups, respectively. The PPP described here soluble in common organic solvents were characterized detail by NMR spectroscopy, membrane osmometry size exclusion chromatography (SEC). degrees polycondensation butoxymethyl-substituted polymers found to be order 30–65. No evidence for chain degradation during following conversions was basis SEC measurements.
