摘要: Introduction: In the children obesity research field, weighing and measuring involves high costs, which could be reduced if self-reported body mass index (BMI) was ascertained to a valid index. Objective: To analyze accuracy of children’s selfreported BMI. Materials methods: 171 school students from Madrid participated in study (Mean age: 10,68 years). They were weighed measured, also asked report their weight height. Both current BMI calculated. Results: The correlation between r = .803 (p < .001), kappa indexex ranged k .38 .46. Conclusions: noticeably coincide with 10 11 year-old children. However, modest concordance found categorization within weight-related group (normal, overweight obese) based on both indexes, shows former measure when carrying out population studies overweight.
