摘要: In the tropics, old-growth forests are converted to other land cover types at a high rate and young secondary forest may gain in importance. Information on associated changes leaf gas exchange traits can be valuable for modelling biogeochemical fluxes under altered land-use patterns. We studied situ photosynthetic parameters stomatal conductance water vapour eight abundant tree species of natural Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. sun leaves, average maximal (g smax) (SF) was 2.1 times higher than (OGF) species. Species with g smax reduced s sharply when pressure deficit air increased, whereas low were much less sensitive humidity. For area-based capacity (A max-area), SF had 2.3 OGF both, A max-area variation among SF. When all (n=16) considered, means specific area (SLA), N concentration P significantly correlated max-area. The strong correlation between foliar (r 2=0.8) is remarkable as alluvial soils study region rich nutrients. If analysed separately, only significant observed SLA mass-based max; correlations found size smax. These results show that conversion Sulawesi alters characteristics chemical structural used prediction these changes. best obtained by different species, entire pool
