摘要: Variations in water quality of River Ogun around the cattle market, Isheri along Lagos-Ibadan express road were evaluated using multivariate statistical techniques such as principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster (CA) to analyze similarities or dissimilarities among sampling points so identify spatial temporal variations sources contamination over time. Water data generated from 8 during 6 year periods (i.e., 2000, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011). The samples analyzed for 14 physico-chemical parameters heavy metals temperature, pH, total solids (TS), dissolved (TDS), suspended (SS), oil grease, oxygen (DO), chemical demand (COD), Cl-1, alkalinity, hardness (TH), SO42-, NO3 -, PO43- (Cd, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, Mn, Zn). Three zones differentiated based on results, implied similar features. Thus, site may be categorized relatively less polluted, moderately polluted highly polluted. PCA assisted extract recognize factors responsible years. results showed that index which changes differs. natural, inorganic organic e.g., TS, etc., most significant contributing This shows a parameter can one season not another. result used reduce number both space time, without much loss information. will assist decision makers identifying priorities improve has deteriorated due pollution various anthropogenic activities.
