摘要: Summary 1. Plant responses to water availability may change over time due seasonality, interannual variation and developmental changes. Our past investigations demonstrated that male female Boxelder ( Acer negundo ) exhibit differences in their availability. Here we use the genders as a model system to: (1) examine if cultural conditions have an effect on instantaneous gas exchange time-integrated carbon isotope discrimination ∆ ); (2) compare these physiological across range of temporal scales (seasonal, annual, interannual); (3) describe at different ages 2. Under well watered conditions, leaf were observed between all stages. Within gender, was similar throughout growing season years, indicating conserved set-point despite changing growth conditions. When stress imposed, females exhibited greater reductions photosynthetic rate higher stomatal limitations photosynthesis than males. 3. For plants, strong correlation existed intercellular [CO 2 ] calculated from \ i c obtained exchange. However, when drought imposed this weakened males non-existent females. 4. This study indicates integrated values can be used characterize leaf-level are relatively constant. fluctuates, care must taken equating measurements because decouple integrating time-scales, degree decoupling vary even subspecies (gender) level.
