摘要: Purpose: The improvement of regeneration and functional recovery after peripheral nerve injury is a major challenge in neurosurgery. Although microsurgical techniques for reconstruction have seen great advancements over the last years, clinical outcome with patients often unsatisfactory. aim present study was to investigate if administration iron chelator Deferroxamine (DFO), can improve postoperative rat median model. Methods: After complete transection, right repaired by end-to-end neurorrhaphy. suture site wrapped 1-cm-long external jugular vein segment, either empty or filled DFO-loaded lipid particles (Perineurin c ) vehicle (unloaded particles) alone. Functional testing carried out weekly means grasping test. At time withdrawal, 12 weeks post-operatively, muscle tropism assessed weighing flexor digitorum sublimis that innervated only. Before harvesting specimens electrophysiological analyses were performed measuring latency, threshold conduction velocity. Finally, nerves withdrawn immunocytochemistry neurofilament antibody axon quantitative morphology. Results: comparison between groups showed intraoperative application at neurorrhaphy led significant increase density regenerating axons as well an accelerated both motor function. results demonstrated decrease threshold, lower higher velocity Perineurin -treated animals. Conclusions: suggest local might therapeutic potential improving patients.
