摘要: Background Adequate protein ingestion-mediated stimulation of myofibrillar synthesis (MPS) is required to maintain skeletal muscle mass. It currently unknown what per meal intake maximally stimulate the response in older men and whether it differs from that younger men. Methods We retrospectively analyzed data our laboratories measured MPS healthy (~71 years) (~22 by primed constant infusion l-ring-[(13)C6]phenylalanine after ingestion varying amounts (0-40 g) high-quality dietary as a single bolus normalized body mass and, where available, lean (LBM). Results There was no difference (p = .53) basal rates between (0.027±0.04%/h; means ± 95% CI) young (0.028 0.03%/h) Biphase linear regression breakpoint analysis revealed slope first line segment lower Conclusions This report relative (to weight) ingested dose Our suggest are less sensitive low intakes require greater intake, meal, than postprandial MPS. These results should be considered when developing nutritional solutions maximize for maintenance or enhancement with advancing age.
