Theory of nondegenerate four-wave mixing in a birefringent optical fibre

摘要: Nondegenerate four-wave mixing in a birefringent optical fibre pumped with two waves of orthogonal linear polarisations at different wavelengths is studied theoretically. It shown that, under appropriate conditions, the frequency shift process proportional to polarisation-mode dispersion fibre, and insensitive difference between pump wavelengths. The theory explains recent experimental observation that laser beam can mix spectrum light generate distinct frequency-shifted beam.
