摘要: Abstract:  Background:  Cesarean delivery has negative effects on breastfeeding. The objective of this study was to evaluate breastfeeding rates, defined in accordance with World Health Organization guidelines, from 6 months postpartum infants born by elective and emergency cesarean section vaginally. Methods:  Delivery modalities were assessed relation patterns 2,137 term delivered at a tertiary center, the Padua University School Medicine northeastern Italy, January December 2007. population included 677 (31.1%) newborns section, 398 (18.3%) cesarean, 279 (12.8%) 1,496 (68.8%) vaginally. Results:  Breastfeeding prevalence room significantly higher after vaginal compared that (71.5% vs 3.5%, p < 0.001), longer interval occurred between birth first (mean ± SD, hours, 3.1 ± 5 10.4 ± 9, p < 0.05). No difference found rates groups. Compared delivery, associated rate discharge subsequent follow-up steps (7 days, 3 mo, 6 mo life). Conclusions:  Emergency deliveries are similarly decreased exclusive delivery. inability women who have undergone breastfeed comfortably immediate period seems be most likely explanation for association.
