摘要: Background: Bariatric surgery in patients >50 years has been controversial. We investigated the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGBP) >55 age. Methods: Prospective data on 71 (54 females 17 males) undergoing LRYGBP were reviewed. The followed for a mean months (range 2-35 months). Results: age was 59 55-67 years), preoperative BMI 50.2 kg/m2 37-65 kg/m2). There no conversions to open technique. Mean percent excess weight loss (%EWL) 20%, 48%, 64% 67% at 1, 6, 12 24 respectively. 89% had least 50% EWL 1 year postoperatively. significant decrease number requiring medical treatment co-morbidities associated with morbid obesity: diabetes mellitus 87%, hypertension 70% sleep apnea 86%. inpatient mortality. patient died suddenly 2 weeks postoperatively possible myocardial infarction or pulmonary embolism. 16 developed 22 complications. median length hospital stay 3 days. Conclusion: is safe well-tolerated surgical option obesity old. These demonstrate satisfactory resolution co-morbidities.
