摘要: The effect of phonotactic probability (PP) and neighbourhood density (ND) on triggering word learning was examined in children with Language Impairment (3;04–6;09) compared to Typically Developing children. Nonwords, varying PP ND orthogonally, were presented a story context their tested using referent identification task. Group comparisons receptive vocabulary as covariate found no group differences overall scores or the influence ND. Therefore, there evidence atypical lexical phonological processing. ‘Convergent’ PP/ND (High PP/High ND; Low PP/Low ND) optimal for both groups. This bias interacted knowledge. ‘Divergent’ positively correlated so ‘divergence disadvantage’ reduced knowledge grew; an interaction hypothesized represent developmental changes lexical–phonological processing linked emergence representations.
