Characteristics of Gray Wolf Attacks on Humans in an Altered Landscape in the West of Iran

摘要: Wildlife attacks on humans are an example of serious human–wildlife conflict. Such rarely studied in Asia and particularly not Iran. A total 53 wolf (Canis lupus) were recorded the Hamedan province, a human-dominated landscape west Iran, between April 2001 2012. Most classified as predatory (68%) pet-related (19%) nature. The majority victims children (12 years old or younger; 62%). incidents (70%) took place during wolf’s pup-rearing season. most frequent human activities at time attack recreation based (57%). locations occurred frequently farmlands (43%) outskirts villages (41%). We recommend that future could be reduced prevented through modification behavior public education designed to prevent habituation wolves.
