摘要: The electrochemical behavior of MgCl2 was investigated in ternary NaCl-KCl-CaCl2 molten chloride mixtures, using inert tungsten and steel electrodes the temperature range from 973 to 1053 K. Electrochemical methods like square wave voltammetry (SWV), cyclic (CV), chronoamperometry (CA), chronopotentiometry (CP) were applied investigate reaction process. Results showed that reduction Mg2+ Mg not a reversible process system. magnesium ion on single-step with exchange two electrons calculated by SWV CV. nucleation mechanism deposition substrate studied according model Scharifker-Hill, indicating electrode instantaneous nucleation, which consistent formation growth mechanisms hemispherical nuclei. diffusion coefficients different CV, CA, CP at 973 K 1.44 × 10−5, 1.75 × 10−5, 1.27 × 10−5 cm2 s−1. In addition, Arrhenius treatment employed obtain activation energy for salt mixtures. values derived CV CA techniques as Ea = 47.89 53.3 kJ mol−1, respectively. metal identified SEM-EDS XRD analysis method.
