摘要: ABS>In an analysis of the pathogenesis neoplasms endocrine organs occurring in mice exposed to experimental atomic detonation, groups 1O9 140 were irradiated with fission neutrons or x rays over entire body. Some partially shielded; others subjected stresses. Total-body neutron exposure caused thyroid tumors 3.4 and 7.3 per cent mice; none was found total-body x-rayed mice. Thyroid adrenalectomized gonadectomized unirradiated, bilaterally animals. A high incidence occurred head-neck-irradiated Both adrenal cortical adenomas chromaffinomas induced by irradiation seen similarly unirradiated controls, The ovarian total-body- x-radiated not diminished sheilding upper half tumor appreciablly raised isolited head neck irradiation. It is concluded that have a relative biological effectiveness relation ray gamma for induction. With respect tumorigenesis, it postulated, on basis present data those ofmore » earlier investigators, eostatic forces resultant sustained increase gonadotropins. (auth)« less
