摘要: In order to understand plant functioning, community composition and terrestrial biogeochemistry it is decisive study standing root biomass, (fine) dynamics interactions below ground. While most taxa can be identified by visual criteria above ground, roots show less distinctive features. Furthermore, systems of neighbouring plants are rarely spatially segregated; thus, soil horizons samples hold more than one species necessitating sorting according taxa. the last decades, various approaches, ranging from anatomical morphological analyses differences in chemical DNA sequencing were applied discern species’ identity biomass Among those methods, a variety spectroscopic methods was used detect roots. this review, herbaceous woody excised or situ will discussed. detail, techniques reviewed their usability taxa, determine vitality, quantify non-destructively cores holding mixtures addition, which may able play an increasing role future studies on related traits highlighted.
