Lipid Peroxidation and Peroxide-Scavenging Enzymes in Cotton Seeds Under Natural Ageing

摘要: The present study was carried out to contribute our knowledge of the mechanism seed deterioration in two cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) cultivars (HS6 and H1098) during natural ageing. seeds were sealed polythene bags stored at 25 ± 1 °C for 3, 6, 9, 12 18 months. In both cultivars, germinability decreased whereas membrane assayed as electrical conductivity leachates increased with storage period. decrease well correlated accumulation H2O2 malondialdehyde content. activities peroxidase, catalase, ascorbate glutathione reductase superoxide dismutase Seeds cv. H1098 more susceptible ageing than HS6.
