摘要: The objective of our study was to evaluate the hypothesis that constraints on expansion range common genet (Genetta genetta) in Europe are limitations derived from species’ patterns habitat selection. From a sample 2073 occurrence data and using species distribution models (SDM) built with Maxent, results show temperature-related variables were main factor explaining current species. maximum winter temperature by far most important environmental constraint presence species, genets showing preference for higher temperatures two coldest seasons year. Genets appeared also associated Mediterranean zones, preferred mid-elevations more often present habitats dominated sclerophyllous vegetation. Our stongly support view influence is major limiting impedes spread northwards eastwards into continental limits its distribution. Nevertheless, colonization fronts could lead future changes distribution, so it would seem has not yet finished.
