An Experimental Study on Solar Flat Plate CollectorUsing an Alternative Working Fluid

摘要: This paper describes the performance of a solar water heater with an alternative working fluid. A flat plate collector fIxed orientation was fabricated and connected to heat exchanger, which kept inside storage drum. The developed low temperature device operating the temperature range ambient 100°C. Acetone selected as fluid and allowed re-eirculate in closed loop. shell tube type heat exchanger (non-mixing) designed for transfer between acetone water. The intensity increased from 55 mw/cm2 at 8.30 am 85 at 1.30 pm decreased 64 5.00 pm. The absorber temperature, remained nearly constant first two hours, went up 90°C next two hours. It from 11.00 then dropped down 72°C afternoon. The hot found loose surrounding more or less constant rate 11.30 pm. highest acetone (70°C) observed during 1.00 2.00 water increased 30°C maximum 62°C. Overall efficiency system was found be 45% while considering input gained by the water. Alternative working fluids such acetone, methanol ethanol may be considered substituting view fact that have boiling point coupled high latent of evaporation.
