Enforcing performance: new approaches to govern public service broadcasting

摘要: The latest buzzword in the world of public service broadcasting is ‘performance’. Following national and international pressures on broadcasters’ system funding, PSB being urged to ‘perform’, provide value for money, meet targets or suffer consequences. To this end, a new governance has been implemented several European countries containing all some following elements: public-service contracts, performance criteria analyses. This policy approach touches upon issues such as independence, accountability distinctiveness creates clear opportunities threats future PSB.
