摘要: Despite over 30 years of deployment, varieties with the Bph3 gene for resistance to brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens (Stal) (Hemiptera: Delphacidae), are still effective in much Philippines. In present study, we determined effects adaptation one resistant variety, IR62 – assumed possess on (1) against a series similar biotypical responses (presumed contain same major genes), and (2) differential variety bph4 that occurs at chromosome position as Bph3. We also examined high soil nitrogen effectiveness Feeding, biomass, development times were reduced wild BPH population when reared compared susceptible standard TN1. However, application increased susceptibility IR62. After 13 generations IR62, had adapted plant’s resistance. Virulence ‘Rathu Heenati’ supports idea is Across IR (IR60, IR66, IR68, IR70, IR72, IR74), feeding, rates generally higher IR62-adapted than non-adapted BPH; however, contrary expectations, many these already BPH. Fitness was ‘Babawee’ indicating close relation between bph4. The results indicate conventional understanding genetics behind needs be readdressed develop improve deployment strategies management.
