Challenging the miracle of transgenic crops in China: findings from a case study in cotton using panel data

摘要: Bt cotton has been cultivated in China for the past 10 years. Limitations of previous studies analyzing impact this technology are short time period considered and lack panel data. In paper, we present findings from monitoring 150 farmers 2002 2005. Descriptive analysis reveals that pesticide use is increasing while seed price toxin concentration decreased. The variable was consistently insignificant a production function with damage control specification model fixed effects model. There indication poor standards pesticides varieties can cause result.
