摘要: Abstract The paper compares the economic performance of different crop protection strategies in cotton including use transgenic varieties Shandong Province, China. By means a Monte Carlo simulation model comparison was made between conventional insecticide strategies, planting bollworm-resistant Bt and strategy combining both technologies. To account for observed variation toxin content China, two quality levels seed are included model. data season-long records input yield 150 small-scale producers five villages which complemented with survey Chinese experts. Results show that high cost pest control based on expensive, good seeds is economically inferior to low strategies. Scenarios population were while need-based applications insecticides dominant normal pressure scenarios, non-Bt performs well under conditions. These results imply need include agro-ecosystem aspects such as conditions impact interventions pests natural enemies assessment
