Ultrasound assisted synthesis of isopropyl esters from palm fatty acid distillate

摘要: Esterification is one of the most preferred synthesis routes for organic esters which are frequently used as plasticizers, solvents and perfumery flavour chemicals. The present work deals with acid catalyzed isopropyl from palm fatty distillate (PFAD) in presence ultrasonic irradiations operating at 25 kHz frequency 1 kW supplied power. Effect different parameters such molar ratio reactants, catalyst quantity temperature has been studied an aim optimization. It observed that ultrasound enhances rate reaction extent equilibrium conversion. optimum this process have found to be 1:5 PFAD isopropanol, concentration 5% 60 °C temperature. Maximum conversion levels about 80% obtained 6 h time under these optimized conditions. Analysis kinetic data indicates follows first order reversible path.
