摘要: The focus of this single center study was the objective analysis perceived rheological differences between videofluoroscopy and mealtime fluids. Analysis material property characteristics five fluids routinely used during (a) videofluoroscopy, (b) barium swallow, (c) bedside assessments swallowing ensued. Measurements obtained from a "cone plate" geometry rheometer provided each These were described in terms viscosity, density, yield stress. Previous studies have focused only on part fluid make-up, that viscosity. Results indicated marked compared to those taken at mealtimes. Differences noted all parts (viscosity, stress) with showing higher values for parameters. By virtue laws physics, it is suggested may be more difficult swallow than standard merits drawing conclusions safety purely results correlating these situations are discussed. need dysphagia highlighted. In light findings investigation, further multi-center warranted.
