摘要: Atkinson and Shiffrin's (1968) dual-store model of memory includes a structural store along with control processes conceptualized as rehearsal buffer. I present variant Shiffrin’s buffer within global framework that accounts for findings previously thought to be difficult it explain. This assumes limited capacity where information is stored about items, associations between items the context in which they are studied. The strength association by number simultaneously occupying New directly test assumptions presented, including serial position effects, conditional first recall probabilities immediate delayed free recall, continuous distractor paradigm, experiments using list length manipulations single item paired study lists. Overall, model’s predictions supported data from these experiments, suggesting processes, buffer, necessary component models.
