摘要: This study evaluated the effects of chemical and biologic agents on periodontally diseased root surfaces which had been scaled or planed. The proximal 25 teeth were to remove all visible calculus, another vigorously planed cementum achieve a hard, smooth, glass-like surface. Five five specimens randomly selected for light microscopic examination determine amount removed. Cementum remained but planing removed most more coronal cementum. Each 40 remaining (20 20 planed) was longitudinally sectioned obtain an experimental control specimen. Four four sections as test each following agents: (1) saturated citric acid three minutes; (2) 15% EDTA 5 (3) sodium hypochlorite minutes, followed by 30-second application 5% acid; (4) alone (5) 2% deoxycholate (NAD) 1 minute, 1-minute rinse in distilled water, then Cohn's fraction IV1. specimen treated with saline. All samples prepared SEM examined at 3,000 X. Areas particular interest also 12,000 treatments exposed only individual collagen fibers irregular fiber bundles surfaces. Saturated acid, EDTA, neutralization debris openings Sodium NaD/Cohn's IV1 less effective removing surface effect similar that seen saline controls. Application 30 seconds resulted virtually free numerous appeared cause morphologic change fibers. alone, IV1, physiologic relatively ineffective debridement.
