摘要: Despite extensive gray matter loss following spinal cord injury (SCI), little attention has been given to neuronal replacement strategies and their effects on specific functional circuits in the injured cord. In present study, we assessed breathing behavior phrenic nerve electrophysiological activity transplantation of microdissected dorsal or ventral pieces rat fetal tissue (FSCD FSCV, respectively) into acute, cervical (C2) hemisections. Transneuronal tracing demonstrated connectivity between donor neurons from both sources host circuitry. Phrenic recordings revealed differential dorsally vs. ventrally derived neural progenitors ipsilateral recovery activity. These initial results suggest that local repair can influence motoneuron function targeted outcomes will be dependent properties phenotypic fates cells employed.
