Piling high: a general practice registrar's unsolicited mail.

摘要: Objective: To determine the amount, types, and proportion that is read of unsolicited mail received by a general practice registrar. Design, setting participant: A mixed-methods, prospective, descriptive study sent directly to registrar in private located rural north Queensland, collected between 1 March 30 September 2010. Main outcome measures: The number weight, items, each document read, total category. Results: 196 items mail, weighing 19.85 kg, were over period 7 months. category with largest was pharmaceutical company correspondence (70; 36%), closely followed medical tabloids free journals (67; 34%). Medical made up of unsolicited weight (15.49 kg; 78%). Of all only 10 (5%) had more than half their content read. Conclusions: Although small size, this suggests reduction practitioners Australia would have benefits for GPs terms time management, environmental benefits, frustration levels.
