摘要: Abdominal ultrasound can be a useful tool for diagnosing periportal fibrosis related to Schistosoma mansoni infection, and also planning monitoring the evolution of hepatic morbidity following control measures. We evaluated standardized methodology proposed by World Health Organization detecting portal hypertension, among patients from an endemic area in Venezuela, impact praziquantel treatment 3-5 years later. After chemotherapy, complete reversal lesions was observed 28.2% cases progression disease 5.1%. Improvement started with reduction thickening followed decrease size left lobe, spleen mesenteric veins. Ultrasound confirmed clinical findings after chemotherapy disease. However, more advanced disease, these were contradictory. There no correlation between seen on age, intensity infection or serological findings.
