摘要: ObjectiveTo determine the etiology, laterality, and time to presentation of unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP) at a tertiary care institution over 10 years.Study DesignCase series with chart review.SettingAcademic medical center.Subjects MethodsAll patients seen between 2002 2012 by Department Otolaryngology Washington University School Medicine (WUSM), diagnosis paralysis, were included. Medical records reviewed for symptom onset date, date(s), etiology UVFP.ResultsOf patients, 938 met inclusion criteria In total, 522 (55.6%) had UVFP due surgery; 158 (16.8%) associated thyroid/parathyroid surgery, while 364 (38.8%) nonthyroid surgery.
