摘要: Reactions mediated by the brain are part of response to intraperitoneal administration endotoxin, a model gram-negative bacterial infection. To test hypothesis that compromised blood–brain barrier (BBB) may contribute these reactions, integrity BBB was measured following lipopolysaccharide administration. Rats received injections 50 μg/kg or 2 mg/kg endotoxin. Brain uptake macromolecular vascular marker, -labelled rat serum albumin, and poorly permeable low molecular weight substance, sucrose, then with intravenous bolus injection method. Compared controls, neither dose endotoxin affected permeability for tracers. This true when 5 min h after injection. It is concluded even at high does not acutely disrupt BBB.
