摘要: Horizontal rotating reactors offer many advantages for enzymatic hydrolysis of viscous biomass slurries; however, they do not provide homogenous mixtures since motion is only in the angular direction. Multi-directional mixing important dispersing enzymes and carrying products away from reaction sites. The objective here was to experimentally quantify times axial dispersion coefficients a horizontal bioreactor. Mixing were same order as times, indicating that could be much controlled by diffusion effects complex mechanism. coefficient highest solids slurry 20× less than lowest slurry, which indicative difference free water magnitude change viscosity with relatively small addition solids. slow low may an acceptable tradeoff significantly lower power requirements compared conventional vertical reactor.
