Enhancing mixing of particles by baffles in a rotating drum mixer

摘要: Abstract Baffles with shape of “–” (single baffle), “+” (cross-baffles four arms) and “*” (baffles 6 are used to enhance the mixing particles in a rotating drum mixer. A micro-dynamics study segregation bi-disperse system two particle sizes these three kinds baffles is carried out using discrete element method (DEM). The effect on mixing, mechanisms enhancement by discussed analyzed. Simulation results show that an unbaffled mixer, convection, diffusion, size particles, all play important roles process; whereas will be largely restrained when mixer has baffle, regardless its shape, degree higher than different characteristics for shaped baffle revealed simulation results. For or style baffles, there optimal efficiency baffle.
