Neuropeptide Y-Like Immunoreactivity in Area 17 of Chimpanzee

摘要: The distribution and morphology of neuropeptide Y-like immunoreactive (NPY+) neurons in area 17 were studied 4 chimpanzees (15 to 56 years old) with the aid immunocytochemical methods. NPY+ not pyramidal, but either multipolar, bipolar, or bitufted shape. They occurred most frequently layer 6 subjacent white matter, they sparser supragranular layers, few 4. somata layers significantly smaller than those infragranular layers. axon NPY cells originated from soma primary dendrite. different between youngest oldest chimpanzee. oval shape neurons, however, changed slightly aging a more circular density fibers was laminar-dependent. A distinct plexus extended through upper part lowest aspect 3. thin fiber band found Some axons vertically traversed cortex pia matter. In superficial "snarls" appeared.
