摘要: The oomycetous pathogen Pythium insidiosum is the causative agent of pythiosis, a life-threatening disease that affects animals and humans. This infectious difficult to treat, early accurate diagnosis critical for effective treatment. In this sense, study aimed evaluate intradermal (ID) injection P. protein antigens (PiPA) treatment pythiosis using an experimental model. For diagnostic purposes, PiPA were injected by ID route in following groups rabbits: (a) control; (b) previously immunized with subcutaneous (SC) route; (c) infected zoospores. rabbits also treated or SC routes. Mean induration sizes different at 24 h 72 h readings when compared control group. Sensitivity protocol was 100% 80% 72 h, specificity both readings. routes did not result significant differences lesion cure rates; however, serum levels interferon-gamma higher route. demonstrates applicability
