摘要: To evaluate the utility of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for documenting herpes simplex virus (HSV) in persons with reactivated genital lesions viral isolation was compared a recently developed PCR method. Three women experiencing four episodes recurrent were followed 10 days per episode daily examination and duplicate swabs lesions, one HSV culture PCR. type 2 cultured from three mean duration 2.6 days. detected DNA lesion during all episodes, positive an average 6.8 demonstrated ulcerative on 15 17 versus 3 by (P less than .01). became negative when reepithelialized. These data suggest that is more sensitive measure infection routine detects presence at times negative.
