摘要: Abstract Coastal ecosystems around the world have deteriorated markedly due to anthropogenic impacts such as habitat alteration, resource extraction, pollution, and invasive species. Resource managers deal with these increasingly interrelated well considerable uncertainty in scientific knowledge, funding institutional priorities. Given that issues can pose a serious impediment sustainable management, information regarding manager perceptions relative challenges be applied improve decisions of policy makers, agencies, management entities. Our objectives will tested Hawai‘i it is unique system need study. Based upon above considerations, this study were to: 1) our understanding who tasked managing coastal resources; 2) understand how perceive they are managing; and, 3) evaluate whether differences exist across agencies demographic attributes. Identified (N = 87), hereafter referred managers, Hawai‘i’s inhabited islands surveyed regards ecosystems. Respondents predominately educated Caucasian males, state comprising largest portion (50.9%), followed by non-governmental organizations (28.1%) federal (19.3%). The perceived threat coasts species, while lack was challenge. Managers identified increasing resources, public understanding, collaboration among improving zoning permitting solutions challenges.
