摘要: Unstable atherosclerotic plaques frequently show plaque angiogenesis which increases the chance of rupture and thrombus formation leading to infarctions. Hypoxia plays a role in inflammation, two processes involved pathogenesis atherosclerosis. We aim study effect resolution hypoxia using carbogen gas (95% O2, 5% CO2) on remodeling vein graft accelerated lesions ApoE3*Leiden mice harbor angiogenesis. Single treatment resulted drastic decrease intraplaque hypoxia, without affecting composition. Daily for three weeks 34.5% increase patency increased lumen size. However, after was comparable controls, as were number neovessels degree hemorrhage. To our surprise we found that triggered ROS accumulation subsequent Hif1a induction, paralleled with reduction macrophage content, pointing an lesion stability. Similar what observed vivo, vitro induction bone marrow derived macrophages lead expression extensive DNA damage apoptosis. Our demonstrates did improve stability reduced via mediated apoptosis but failed have long term effects
