摘要: Objectives We describe the characteristics of injecting drug users (IDU) in Pakistan 2006 and 2011, assess heterogeneity IDU across different cities years as well factors associated with HIV infection. Methods Cross-sectional, integrated behaviouralbiological surveys were conducted 10 2011. Univariate multivariable analyses used to differences prevalence risk behaviours between over time. Results Large increases among injection observed, overall increasing from 16.2% 31.0% 2011; an increase was also seen all geographic areas except one. There anecdotally related a reduction availability services for IDU. In larger proportions reported several times day using professional injectors, fewer always clean syringes. An proportion living on street observed this Cities differ terms prevalence, profiles, healthcare seeking behaviours. Conclusions is high considerable potential further transmission through prevention programs may be improved targeting within city involving groups that interact (such pharmacy staff injectors) harm initiatives.
