摘要: An Evaporimeter and a ventilated chamber technique have been compared in their ability to measure transepidermal water loss (TEWL) through rat skin. These techniques TEWL under very different conditions; the measures net ambient relative humidity (RH) whereas employs constant atmosphere, usually of low RH thus measured uni-directional diffusion water. Paired measurements were made normal skin whose barrier properties had altered by tape-stripping (15 applications) or single applications n-hexadecane (28.4 μmol cm−2). Both measuring indicated same level (mean 0.3 mg cm−2 h−1) during increases induced (max c 3.5 h−1). However, was found underestimate higher rates tape-stripping, ie above 7.5 h−1. The is portable, easy use suitable for up h−1; it can only be used comparative assessments epidermal function if at particular RH. more cumbersome preferred accurate where high occur.
