Medium Field rf Transitions for Polarized Beams of Hydrogen and Deuterium

摘要: Abstract A medium field rf transition unit (MFT) which can induce one or a sequence of transitions between adjacent hyperfine states (| Δm f | = 1) hydrogen and deuterium has been constructed tested. The tests were carried out by ionizing atoms from an atomic beam source after the MFT determining vector tensor polarizations proton deuteron beams. measured found to be (96 ± 1)% calculated maximum for 3)% deuterium. versatility makes it possible produce polarized beams with largest figure merit ( P 2 I ) as well in pure spin state using only three units. polarization is zz +0.91 0.02 −1.75 0.04 z +0.92 −0.95 Hydrogen produced 0.01 −0.88 0.01.
