摘要: The cystic fibrosis gene product, CFTR, and the multidrug resistance P-glycoprotein (encoded by MDR1 gene) are structurally related proteins both associated with epithelial chloride channel activities. We have compared their cell-specific expression in rat situ hybridization. In all tissues examined two genes were found to complementary patterns of expression, demonstrating exquisite regulation temporal fashions. Additionally, a switch from one other was observed certain tissues. For example, intestine switches CFTR as cells migrate across crypt-villus boundary. A also uterine epithelium upon pregnancy. These data suggest that serve analogous roles provide additional evidence has physiological role regulating cell volume. these is coordinately controlled.
