Ultrafast spectroscopy of linear carbon chains: the case of dinaphthylpolyynes

摘要: The dynamics of excited states in α,ω-dinaphthylpolyyne, a class linear sp-carbon chains, has been investigated by ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy and DFT//TDDFT calculations. We show that the role molecular conformers, which end-capped naphthalene rings are planar or perpendicular to polyyne plane, is fundamental for understanding both steady state properties, such as UV-Vis spectra vibronic transitions, features. In particular, we observed one conformers formation narrow photo-induced band rising within 30 ps. This can be assigned an inter-system crossing event leading triplet states.
