The fibrous skeleton of becomes sclerotic and calcifies, valve closing margins thicken, aorta dilates tilts rightward on interventricular septum making latter seem prominent, ventricles decrease in size, left atrium enlarges, valves calcify and/or become myxomatous amyloid may deposit heart.
