The joint properties of copper by friction stir welding

摘要: The objective of this work was to demonstrate the feasibility friction stir welding (FSW) for joining copper. Defect free weld were produced on 4 mm thick copper plate at travel speed 61 mm/min and tool rotation 1250 rpm using a general steel as tool. zone showed very fine equaxied grain structure compared base metal which had elongated its size is approximately 100 μm. heat-affected (HAZ) lies beside near-equaxied larger than that due annealing effect. Slight softening region formed in lower density dislocation relative metal. Transverse tensile strength FSW joint reached about 87% slight higher value EBW joint.
