摘要: The relationship between structure and function is an invaluable context with which to explore biological mechanisms of normal dysfunctional hearing. systematic topographic representation frequency originates at the cochlea, retained throughout much central auditory system. cochlear nucleus (CN), initiates all ascending pathways, represents essential link for understanding organization. A model CN that maps in 3D would facilitate investigations possible specializations pathologic changes disturb Toward this goal, we reconstructed trajectories labeled nerve (AN) fibers following multiunit recordings dye injections anteroventral CBA/J mouse. We observed each injection produced a continuous sheet AN fibers. Individual cases were normalized template using alignment procedures revealed tonotopic arrangement subdivision clear indication isofrequency laminae. combined dataset was used mathematically derive quantitative map organization entire volume CN. This model, available online (http://3D.ryugolab.com/), can serve as tool quantitatively testing hypotheses concerning location
