摘要: The transmission of HIV infection from an HIV-positive mother to her child during labor, pregnancy, breastfeeding or delivery is termed as mother-to-child (WHO, 2013 report on HIV). A range 15-45% transmissions are possible when no intervention strategies put into place. Globally, goals and initiatives have been set combat this issue well speeding up the interventions achieve rates levels less than 5% total elimination new infant infections by 2015 In 2011, 57% pregnant women living with in low middle-income countries received effective antiretroviral drugs for prevention (PMTCT), a substantial increase 48% 2010 (UNAIDS, 2011 data). Despite availability many massive investments prevent MTCT, pandemic situation still lingers Africa. An estimated 390,000 children globally acquired their mothers over 90% these occurring sub-Saharan Africa (UNICEF, Global HIV/AIDS Response report).
